The Gallery Q at the Laguna Beach Susi Q Senior Center is accepting applications for the Art Competition, The Art of Adornment.
Applications will be accepted today, Monday January 12 2015 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and Thursday January 15 2015 from 10:00am to Noon.
Please being your submissions to 380 Third Street.
On January 23 2015 there will be a Reception from 4:30pm to 6:00pm with the selected artwork.
The Artwork will be on public display from January 20 thru March 10 2015.
GENERAL INFORMATION and GUIDELINES
Adornment artwork ranges from jewelry, silk or knitted scarves, decorated clothing, yard art pieces. wall hangings, quilts, masks, house art and more. Adornment can be exhibited as a photo.
Photos could be of a pet or person in costume, artistic house decorating, body tattoos, exotic face make up, whatever is your interpretation of adornment is welcome!
Drop off Artwork
Drop off artwork with completed application form and $20 entry fee.
Late submissions will not be accepted.
Art Reception
On January 23 2015 there will be a Reception from 4:30pm to 6:00pm with the selected artwork.
Invite your friends and family to the artist’s art reception at the Gallery Q. Beverages and light snacks provided. Feel free to dress in your own adornments (optional) or come early and let us do it for you!
Exhibition Dates
The Artwork will be on public display from January 20 thru March 10 2015.
Artwork will be on public display through out the Laguna Beach Community and Senior Center during normal business hours.
Rules for Submitting Artwork:
Open to Orange County Residents of all ages:
Art work may be anything that adorns (decorates, embellishes, beautifies, enhances) a person, animal, house, yard, etc.
Materials could be fiber, acrylic/oil painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, masks, quilts, jewelry, fabric and photography.
No giclees of paintings please.
We have a limited number of display cases available for small, free standing 3 dimensional art pieces; the maximum size is 10” wide by 10” height.
We also have a few busts for displaying jewelry and manquins to display clothing.
All work must be original and have been completed within the past 24 months.
We will accept up to 2 entries per artist. Art work must remain for the entire show.
This is a non-juried show but art work will be reviewed by Gallery Q staff for appropriateness.
Any work that is not accepted will be returned with entry fee prior to the show’s opening.
Hanging art work must be tightly wired on back 1/3 down from top.
No saw tooth hangers.
Maximum size including frame is 48” x 48″
