The Laguna Beach Senior Housing Task Force “Don’t Move, Improve!” – Home Modifications Workshop: Saturday October 17 2015.

This workshop is from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.

The Workshop meets at Susi Q Community Center.
The Susi Q Community Center is located at 380 Third Street.
The public is encouraged to attend.

The Laguna Beach Senior Housing Task Force will present a workshop to suggest how residents can make improvements to their homes so that they can stay in our community as they age or confront physical challenges.

“This program is specifically designed to explain temporary or permanent improvements to adapting housing for residents as they face the challenges of later years,” said Councilmember Rob Zur Schmiede, Council liaison to the Senior Housing Task Force.

“The Council wants our seniors to remain in our community and to help eliminate housing challenges as much as possible.”

The Workshop features a panel of four experts in residential design:
Morris Skenderian, Laguna Beach architect; Dennis Bogle, Building Official for the City;
Benjamin Morey, Age in Place specialist; Peter McCarroll, contractor.

After the panel presentations, general audience questions will be discussed, followed by an informal meeting with panel members and the opportunity to discuss individual concerns and enjoy light refreshments.

“Our City housing stock offers many variations when it comes to adapting for physical needs, but many of these inherent problems can be solved,” added Skenderian.

“Also, sometimes temporary adaptations after an accident or surgery are available.”
