The Need in Orange County

117,861 children are living in POVERTY
1 in 6 children are food insecure
The number of children living in homeless shelters has increased 165% since 2006
A minimum-wage employee would have to work 105 hours a week to rent a one-bedroom apartment

FAM has been providing Hunger prevention in our Community for 19 years.

It often surprises people to know that even in affluent south Orange County, hunger is a very real issue for many:

95% of those FAM serves are people trying not to become homeless
Last year, FAM 1.5 mil meals were provided to hungry and poor neighbors. Another 4,908 meals fed hungry people through FAM’s Thanksgiving programs
13,314 people received food, work force development and housing stability assistance
Nearly 46% of those we help are children
15% of FAM’s clients are seniors
FAM offers a full housing continuum thru emergency/interim/transitional housing, Rapid Rehousing and Permanent Supportive Housing
FAM uses the Housing First model
