Dana Point City Council Ratifies Amendment 1 to the City’s Declaration of a Local Emergency
On March 31 2020: The City Council ratified Amendment 1 to the City’s declaration of a local emergency, which will extend the emergency proclamation, align City regulations to the Governor’s Executive Orders and consider other provisions to streamline City processes during this dynamic situation.

The County of Orange is planning to host press conferences on Mondays and Thursdays at 2:00pm viewed through the Orange County Facebook Page.

Orange County Community Services Businesses Call Center
Orange County Community Services has implemented a call center to meet the needs of businesses impacted by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Economic & Business Recovery Call Center will offer information and resources to help Orange County businesses navigate the current economic climate.
These resources will support businesses with challenges such as lay-off aversion, loans, utility reduction programs, and community resources mapping.
Businesses can call the Economic & Business Recovery Call Center at (714) 480-6500 during hours of operation Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm.

Retired Doctors and Medical Students to Help with COVID-19
Governor Gavin Newsom is asking retired doctors and medical students to help with the anticipated surge of coronavirus cases. His Executive Order can be found here.

Students May Not Be Able to Return To Campuses By End of School Year
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond issued a letter to Superintendents Tuesday stating that “it currently appears students will not be able to return to school campuses before the end of the school year.” That letter can be found here.
Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the “Stay Home. Save Lives. Check In.” campaign urging Californians to help combat social isolation and food insecurity among Californians who are over the age of 65 – a community that is uniquely vulnerable to COVID-19.
The Governor also announced the creation of a statewide hotline — 833-544-2374 — in coordination with the non-profit local 2-1-1 systems, so that Californians have a one-stop shop to answer their questions and get assistance during this crisis.
For example, the 2-1-1 system is able to help older Californians access grocery and medication delivery while staying at home.

The Governor signed a new Executive Order updating his previous order regarding residential evictions through May 31 and outlined a process by which a tenant can request relief from a landlord.

Governor Gavin Newsom announced that financial institutions will provide major financial relief for millions of Californians suffering financially as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

United States of America Federal Government
SBA Loan Program/Paycheck Protection Program
A new SBA loan program, The Paycheck Protection Program, is designed to help small businesses with their payroll and other business operating expenses.
It will provide critical capital to businesses without collateral requirements, personal guarantees, or SBA fees – all with a 100% guarantee from SBA.
All loan payments will be deferred for six months.
Most importantly, the SBA will forgive the portion of the loan proceeds that are used to cover the first eight weeks of payroll costs, rent, utilities, and mortgage interest.
The Paycheck Protection Program is specifically designed to help small businesses keep their workforce employed.
The new loan program will be available retroactive from Feb. 15 2020 so employers can rehire their recently laid-off employees through June 30 2020.

Apple and CDC, together with the White House and FEMA, launched a new website and app with a COVID-19 screening tool and resources to help people protect their health.

The SCWD is asking everyone to be mindful and not flush wipes down toilets.
Having fully operational wastewater services is critical to containing COVID-19 and protecting our community from other public health risks.

Safe Water
Mouton Niguel and South Coast Water District want to assure residents that our water is safe and reliable. Water quality and supply have not been affected by the coronavirus (COVID -19).
San Diego Gas & Electric (SDGE)
SDG&E has suspended disconnections for nonpayment until further notice.
They have also implemented a number of tools to help customers online

SoCalGas is working with residential customers on bill payment and small businesses by waiving late payment fees. They also have tips to save energy. Learn More at SoCalGas.
Cox Communications
Cox has temporarily adjusted its Cox Solutions Store hours in California as residents are directed to stay at home amid the coronavirus pandemic.
As an essential business that provides critical communications services, Cox Solutions Store locations will stay open from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Monday through Friday to serve customers.
Stores will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
