Dana Point is Working to Get Beaches Reopened

The City is working with State and County officials to get beaches reopened with active recreation and social distancing policies.

Dana Point Food Drive on Saturday May 2 2020 was A Great Success

The food drive by the City of Dana Point and Dana Point Surf Club Saturday morning was a great success with over 500 bags of food donated.
The food will serve our senior community and families in need.
Thank you to Team Rubicon and those of you who donated food or time.
We want to say a special thanks to our local Subway for donating sandwiches to feed our volunteers.

The City of Dana Point’s Recreation Division has launched a Virtual Recreation and Resource Center found here with a number of classes and resources available at no cost.

Dana Point Road Construction Work

Below are the areas under construction over the next few weeks.

Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) from Crown Valley to Niguel Road
primarily in the Southbound Direction
South Coast Water District is going to be doing some asphalt repairs on PCH, Monday through Friday from 7:00AM to 5:00PM.
The work should be concluded by May 8 2020 except for finish striping.

PCH from Crown Valley to Niguel Road
The City will also be doing asphalt repairs and placing slurry in the month of May in this segment. Work will continue through mid-June.
Use alternate routes if possible.
More alerts will be provided when major work activity is planned.

Dana Point Harbor Drive
The City is starting asphalt repair work on Dana Point Harbor Drive on Monday May 4 2020.
The work will last through the middle of June 2020.
Major repair work will be done over the next several weeks.
Avoid this area if possible.

The County of Orange

The County Board of Supervisors has a meeting Tuesday May 5 2020 at 9:30am.
They are expected to discuss beaches and businesses reopening.

Orange County Businesses and the Public Best Health Practices

At the April 28 2020 Orange County Board of Supervisors meeting,
Chairwoman Michelle Steel and Supervisor Don Wagner brought forth best practices for businesses and the public to follow.
The guidelines unanimously approved by the board are intended to assist Orange County’s transition back to a normal state of activity.
All recommendations follow the Orange County Health Care Agency and do not supersede any conflicting or more restrictive orders issued by local governments, the State of California, or the Federal Government.

The State of California

California Should Move Into Phase 2 of Reopening Roadmap on Friday May 8 2020

Governor Newsom said on May 4 2020 that he will announce on Thursday May 7 2020 that modifications to the Stay at Home Order to move the State into “Phase 2” on Friday May 8 2020.
He presented California’s Reopening Roadmap Report Card that shows key metrics are on-schedule.
He stated we will begin to gradually move into Stage 2: Lower Risk Workplaces starting this Friday, May 8 2020.
This gradual move into Stage 2 includes expanded retail with curbside pickup and associated manufacturing and supply chains.
He also mentioned the ability for local counties to move further into “Phase 2” with plans certified by County Health Officers and the Board of Supervisors.
The State is working to create guidelines that will allow restaurants and other hospitality businesses to open their doors again, with modifications.

Congressman Mike Levin Virtual Town Hall Wednesday May 6 2020

U.S. Representative Mike Levin will host a Virtual Town Hall on Wednesday May 6 2020 at 2:00pm with Dr. Kelly Motadel, Chief Medical Officer of the Vista Community Clinic (VCC).
They will answer constituents’ questions regarding the latest public health information, the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and more.
Constituents can submit questions ahead of time by emailing them to MLevin.Press@mail.house.gov and including their first name and city of residence.

The CDC has released Reopening Guidance for Cleaning and Disinfecting Public Spaces, Workplaces, Businesses, Schools, and Homes.

Safe Water
Mouton Niguel and South Coast Water District want to assure residents that our water is safe and reliable. Water quality and supply have not been affected by the coronavirus (COVID -19).

San Diego Gas & Electric (SDGE)
SDG&E has suspended disconnections for nonpayment until further notice.
They have also implemented a number of tools to help customers online

So Cal Gas
SoCalGas is working with residential customers on bill payment and small businesses by waiving late payment fees. They also have tips to save energy. Learn More at SoCalGas.

Cox Communications
Cox has temporarily adjusted its Cox Solutions Store hours in California as residents are directed to stay at home amid the coronavirus pandemic.
As an essential business that provides critical communications services, Cox Solutions Store locations will stay open from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Monday through Friday to serve customers.
Stores will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
