Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes Supports Peaceful Protests via Twitter on (May 30 2020)
Sheriff Barnes stated, “1st Amendment Rights must always be protected. Orange County Law Enforcement is committed to protecting free speech activities and preventing actions that jeopardize the safety of life and property. Violence, destruction and criminal acts cannot stand. Thank You to those who are civilly making their voice heard in Orange County. I encourage future demonstrators to be civil and peaceful.”
If you take part in a protest You may:
Distribute leaflets, flyers or other literature on your own property or on public sidewalks, parks and plazas
Picket or protest on public sidewalks, parks and plazas so long as sidewalks and building entrances are no blocked
Chant or sing protest songs on public sidewalks, parks and plazas
If you Take Part in A Protest You may not
Block access to sidewalks or buildings
March in the streets without a permit
Engage in speech that is obscene, makes knowingly false statements of fact, or that is likely to incite an immediate disruptive or dangerous disturbance
