Come see Santa as he rides on the Jolly Trolley with his elves from the Dana Point Recreation Division around town. Santa and his elves will be distributing pre-packaged treats to children.

The County of Orange
Orange County Awaits the COVID-19 Vaccine Arrival
Orange County has been planning for COVID-19 vaccine arrival to the area.
Should the Pfizer vaccine be authorized by the FDA at their meeting on 12/10/20, Pfizer would immediately initiate a first shipment to Orange County of 25,000 vaccines which could potentially be available 7 days later.
A second shipment from Pfizer to Orange County of 100,000-150,000 vaccines could happen two weeks later.
The FDA will be meeting on the Moderna vaccine on 12/17/20.
Should they approve the Moderna vaccine, the region will receive additional vaccines, although the shipment date is to be determined.

Orange County COVID-19 Home Testing
The County will also be making an at-home COVID-19 saliva-based testing kit available to all county residents next week.
Individuals that live in Orange County can register online by visiting the Health Care Agency’s website here and clicking the Ambry link to request to have a kit shipped to their home.
Home delivery kits will contain detailed instructions on collecting the specimen, as well as how to package and return the kit to the lab for testing.

The State of California
California Regional Stay At Home Order December 3 2020
The Governor announced a Regional Stay At Home Order that will go into effect promptly in regions with less than 15% ICU availability.
It prohibits private gatherings of any size, closes sector operations except for critical infrastructure and retail, and requires 100% masking and physical distancing in all others.
Orange County is part of the Southern California region.
A map of the regions and hospital ICU capacity is available here, and the order officially takes effect December 5 2020 with restrictions beginning once the regional ICU availability goes below 15%.
Yesterday, the Southern California region had 20.6% of ICU beds available.
California Regional Stay At Home Order Guidelines
The order will remain in effect for at least 3 weeks and, after that period, will be lifted when a County’s projected ICU capacity meets or exceeds 15%.
This will be assessed on a weekly basis after the initial 3 week period.

COVID-19 Vaccines Emergency Use Authorization
Two vaccines, one manufactured by Pfizer and another by Moderna, have applied to the FDA for emergency use authorizations, which expedite the vaccines going to market.
The Pfizer vaccine has a 95 percent efficacy rate, while the Moderna has a 94 percent efficacy rate.
The U.K. granted Pfizer a temporary emergency use authorization and will begin vaccine distribution next week. The FDA is working to get through their authorization process in the next few weeks.
AstraZeneca’s vaccine is still in trials and is expected to file for an emergency use authorization in January.
