Orange County Airport Fire Guide Wednesday September 11 2024.

Airport Fire OCFA Press Conference will be Live Streamed on OCFA Facebook Page at 4:00pm Wednesday September 11 2024.

Fire is currently at 22,376 acres and Zero Containment.

Wednesday September 11 2024: 3:21pm: Orange County Fire Authority is reporting that,
“It (the fire) is moving southeast towards the Ortega Highway and into the Riverside County area.
Firefighters aggressively attacked from both air and ground.
Heavy fire activity in the communities of the Ortega Highway has impacted structures.
It was reported that structures have either been damaged or destroyed in the El Cariso, Long Canyon, and CCC camp area.
An update will be provided after the DINS team completes an assessment of impacted properties.
Crews continue to work on all three branches with the objective of perimeter control and structure protection.”

Lower temperatures overnight helped the fire crews to slow the speed the of the fire.

Heavy Equipment was brought into the Lake Elsinore Area on Wednesday.

Lake Elsinore fire fighting efforts will increase from an increase in air attacks.

Firefighters are concerned about the Lake Elsinore Effect on Wednesday.

The Lake Elsinore Effect is erratic winds that can pick up throughout the day.

Lake Elsinore Homes that are threatened are on El Cariso Road and at Lakeland Village.

Cal Fire is reporting that, “Governor Gavin Newsom has secured a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG)External Link from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help ensure the availability of vital resources to suppressing the Airport Fire.”

The Airport Fire appears to have crested at Santiago Peak.
Orange County Fire Authority is concerned with the fire reaching local communities.
Coto de Caza has been added to the Evacuation Watch List.
