Filmed over 21 years, the film follows Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie’s journey as the heir to 39 generations of Orthodox rabbis.
He’s torn between accepting his ancestral destiny or becoming a drag queen rebel.
Lau-Lavie is the founder of Lab/Shul in New York City: an everybody-friendly, God-optional, artist-driven, pop-up experimental congregation.
Follow Rabbi Amichai on his life journey and cinematic quest to creatively and radically reinvent religion and ritual while challenging gender norms in our rapidly changing world.
