Yoga in the Park is at 10:00am at Lantern Bay Park. Yoga in the park meets everyday at 10:00am at Lantern Bay Park. On Tuesdays and Thursday they also meet in the evening at 5:30pm. Southern California Edison announced earlier this month that they are fully funded to complete the 20 year and 4.4 Billion dollar decommissioning plan of San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant.

Please arrive early. These meetings tend to fill up quickly. When there was public meetings at the St. Regis Hotel in Dana Point last year, they refused to let many community members in because the room was full. Eyewitness accounts told us that the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station was represented on the Panel at that meeting and was also represented with mostly their employees in the audience. When their employees attend the community meetings this does not allow community members to attend the meetings.

Join in this morning, Saturday August 16 2014 at the Dana Point Nature Interpretive Center for a engaging walk and information session about whales and dolphins. This free event starts at 9:00 am and concludes at 11:00am. The Center is located at 34558 Scenic Drive.
From the Dana Point Nature Interpretive Center, you can see many different species of whale and dolphin! Come learn about our largest animal visitors on an approximately 1.5 mile walk through the Dana Point Headlands conservation area. Bring your binoculars (or use ours!) and learn migration patterns of different whale species that frequent the area, as well as how to best spot, watch, and identify whales.

Phil Shane is performing at Harpoon Henry’s in Dana Point Harbor right now! The audience is up and dancing and everyone is smiling! Seating is to capacity and the fans are standing in the aisle. Parking is kinda tight tonight but there are spaces in the Wind and Sea parking lot. Phil Shane had been a regular fixture in the Orange County Music Scene until he moved to Nashville in January of 2014. He is performing until midnight tonight. He will be back at Harpoon Henry’s for the last two weekends in August.

The City of San Clemente announced that they have cancelled their Coastal Advisory Meeting scheduled for tonight, Thursday August 14. 2014 at 7:00pm. At the July 10, 2014 meeting, the meeting was adjourned to the an Adjourned Regular Meeting to be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Golf Course restaurant located at 150 E. Laguna Art Museum Presents a Music and Dance Concert this Thursday August 14 2014 at 7:00pm. This event is free for museum members, and free for non-members with museum admission

Laguna Art Museum, Laguna Beach Live!, and Laguna Dance Festival have joined forces to commission an original music-and-dance piece inspired by a work of art from the museum’s collection. The organizations have worked closely together to embrace the challenge of ekphrasis, the interpretation of a work of art in another art form.

For this performance, choreographer Bernard Gaddis presents a new choreographic work to an original score by composer Alan Chan, both inspired by Lotus Land, a 1967 oil painting by Lee Mullican from Laguna Art Museum’s collection. The dance piece will be previewed in simplified form at the museum on August 14, following a concert of Chan’s composition performed by the Argus Quartet. After the performance, Gaddis, Chan, and representatives from Laguna Art Museum, Laguna Beach Live!, and Laguna Dance Festival will be present for a discussion with the audience.
