Silverado Fire Up to Date Info & Community Meeting at Calvary Church of the Canyons Tonight

The Cleveland National Forest is reporting the following:

“The soft closure at Santiago Canyon Rd and Silverado Canyon Rd has been lifted as of 8pm, Monday, September 15. Portions of the Trabuco Ranger District remain closed in and around the fire area. A community meeting will be held at the Calvary Church of the Canyons at 7pm on Tuesday, September 16. The church is located at 8002 Silverado Canyon Rd. in Silverado.

Remarks
This fire is being managed under unified command by the US Forest Service and the Orange County Fire Authority.
Silverado Cyn. Rd.is open to residents only at Santiago Cyn. Rd. The mandatory evacuation for the area east of 30311 Silverado Cyn. Rd has been lifted.
A community meeting will be held on Tuesday at 7pm at the Calvery Church of the Canyon.

SMOKE ADVISORY
Valid Sunday, September 14, 2014
A wildland brush fire, named the Silverado Fire, is burning in the Silverado Canyon in the mountains of Orange County, south of the City of Corona in Riverside County. This morning it was reported to be 1600 acres with 20 percent containment. Smoke from the fire is mostly lofting into the atmosphere and visible over portions of Orange County and Riverside County. In locations were the smoke is impacting the surface, air quality will reach unhealthful levels.
Areas of direct smoke impacts and Unhealthy air quality will likely include:
the Saddleback Valley Area (Forecast Area 19);
portions of the Corona/Norco Area (Forecast Area 22);
portions of the Lake Elsinore Area (Forecast Area 25);
portions of the Capistrano Valley Area (Forecast Area 21).
Surrounding areas of Orange and Riverside Counties may reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups level, or higher, depending on continuing fire conditions and wind flows. Onshore sea breeze flows will likely keep smoke from the coastal areas through this afternoon.

In any area impacted by smoke: Everyone should avoid any vigorous outdoor or indoor exertion; people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly, and children should remain indoors. Keep windows and doors closed or seek alternate shelter. Run your air conditioner if you have one. Keep the fresh air intake closed and the filter clean to prevent bringing additional smoke inside. To avoid worsening the health effects of wildfire smoke, don’t use indoor or outdoor wood-burning appliances, including fireplaces.

If power is out for more than 2 hours, throw away any food with a temperature of more than 40 degrees Farenheit.

Update at 10:53pm from Orange County EOC:
Food safety during power outages: food is safe if power is out for less than 2hrs. Keep fridge doors closed as much as possible.

Safety tips for power outages: use only battery-operated flashlights, don’t use candles, unplug TVs and computers.

Parts of Silverado Cyn have lost power as a result of fire @SCE working to restore.

Update at 7:20pm from Corona Fire Department: Silverado Fire Update – 1600 acres, forward spread stopped at the top of the Main Divide and Bedford Motorway. Still spreading to the east.

Update at 6:44 pm from Orange County Sheriff Department: – Evacuation Center OPEN @ El Modena HS at 3920 E. Spring St Orange.

Update at 6:12pm from Orange County Sheriff Department : MANDATORY EVACUATIONS starting @ 6pm for 30500 Silverado Cyn Rd east to end of canyon.
Update 5:37 pm: Orange County Sheriff Departments is reporting that Operational Area EOC remains activated to Level II to monitors activities related to fire.
Update at 5:28 pm from Corona Fire :The Silverado Fire is currently 1300 acres and moving southeast, west of Main Divide. As a contingency, we have staffed BR7, E7R, WT6.

Update at 5:02pm from Orange County Fire Authority : Silverado Canyon Fire has burned over 1300 acres and there is no estimation of containment.

Update at 4:43pm: Orange County Sheriff Department is reporting that Orange County Fire Authority Station # 15 located at 27172 Silverado Canyon Road will be the official Media Staging Area for the Silverado Canyon Fire.
Update at 3:22pm: OrangeCountyEOC is reporting that The 241 TollRoad is currently not affected by the #SilveradoFire. The Tollroad is open for all traffic.

Update at 2:56pm: Corona Fire Department is reporting that the Silverado Fire is up to 1,200 acres and has reached North Main Divide with extreme fire behavior. VLAT has been ordered.

Update at 2:32 pm: OCFA is reporting that the fire has burned over 1200 acres.
Update at 1:27pm: Orange County Fire Watch is reporting that 160 Firefighters, 5 Fixed Wing and 4 Helicopters are being used to fight the fire in Silverado Canyon.
Update at 1:33pm: The Orange County Red Cross is reporting that a Evacuation center is opening @ El Modena HS, 3920 E Spring St, Orange, CA. At this time there are no mandatory evacuations.
Update: 1:41pm: The Orange County Sheriff Department is reporting that Silverado Canyon Road will reopen for residents only at 2:00pm.
