A performance with the STARS of dance! See ballerina superstar Lorena Feijoo dance with the extraordinary Vitor Luiz from San Francisco Ballet. The exquisite Misty Copeland of American Ballet Theatre dance with Gonzalo Garcia of New York City Ballet. Complexions Contemporary Ballet Co. Founder and Artist Director, Desmond Richardson performs a dynamic solo, and the company returns to the Playhouse stage presenting Innervisions with music by Stevie Wonder and choreography by Dwight Rhoden, this will surely electrify and entertain. This performance is not to be missed!

For 10 years, the Laguna Dance Festival has been bringing world-class dance to Laguna Beach and Orange County. To celebrate our first decade, we’ve put together this Gala Performance to showcase the most popular and exciting companies and artists who have performed in the festival along with introducing new stars of the dance to Laguna.

World Premiere Performance of Ekphrasis, Saturday night only, a collaboration with the Laguna Art Museum, Laguna Beach Live! and the Laguna Dance Festival. Composer Alan Chan and choreographer Bernard Gaddis collaborate on “Lotus Land”, live music played by the USC Thornton School of Music quartet.

Join us for a VIP party with the artists of Stars of Dance. Following the performance and located at the Laguna Playhouse, ticket buyers for the Artist Reception will have the opportunity to mingle and meet all the dancers, directors, choreographers and musicians. Food from one of Laguna Beach’s favorite restaurants K’ya Bistro Bar will be provided along with drinks and music. Laguna Dance Festival Master Class Today at Laguna Beach High School at 10:00am

Laguna Dance Festival is presenting a Master Class with New York City Ballet’s Gonzalo Garcia at Laguna Beach High School today, Saturday September 13 2014 at 10:00am. The event will be in the Dance Studio. Laguna Beach High School is located at 625 Park Avenue.

Experience a masterful ballet technique class, learn choreography,
and inquire about life as a professional dancer with New York City Ballet.
Gonzalo Garcia’s extensive and accomplished career began in his home country of Spain at the age of eight. After attending a summer session at San Francisco Ballet school, he participated in the Prix de Lasusanne, becoming the youngest dancer to receive a gold medal. In 1998 Mr. Garcia joined San Francisco Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet, where he was quickly promoted to principal dancer. He later joined New York City Ballet in 2007, and has danced countless featured roles in classic ballets, in addition to roles originated for him.

Laguna Dance Festival Presents …BODYTRAFFIC, tonight, Friday September 12 2014 at 7:30pm at the Laguna Playhouse. The Laguna Playhouse is located at 606 Laguna Canyon Road.
