Update from Orange County Public Works
UPDATE: Coast Highway in the Capistrano Beach area of Dana Point is now open again to through-traffic.
Crews safely completed the pedestrian bridge demolition and site clean-up well ahead of schedule June 2 2016 and the road closure has ended.
Please note that there will continue to be reduced lanes in that area.
We will continue working to install a permanent traffic light and crosswalk at that location by late summer/fall in order to maintain safe access to the beach and local businesses for the community.
As a reminder, the adjacent portion of the pedestrian bridge over the Metrolink/Amtrak railroad track is still in place, yet is closed until approximately Saturday (schedule could change).
Why?
Our engineering and safety experts are analyzing that remaining portion of the bridge (over the railroad track) to ensure it is in safe condition for pedestrians following the demolition of the other portion of the bridge.
We will also be re-installing power on the remaining pedestrian bridge to provide lighting for bridge users’ safety.

Dana Point will have a Full Traffic Closure on PCH in Capo Beach on Thursday June 2 2016. Continue reading “Dana Point Capo Beach PCH Full Closure Thursday June 2 2016”
