San Clemente DMV is now Open!

The San Clemente Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is now open!
Our local DMV has been closed since January 22 2014 for repairs. Other California DMV field offices have been assisting area residents.
The San Clemente DMV is located at 2727 Via Cascadita.
There was about 100 people waiting in line today prior to the 9:00am opening. A DMV employee came out to the line and gave out applications for DMV related transactions. She also gave instructions for applicants.
At 9:10am DMV customers were allowed in. Around half of those waiting immediately were able to go inside.
Community Members in line were in a good mood and were complimentary about the San Clemente DMV office improvements.
There was some last minute finishes. A paving truck was in the parking lot. They were paving in a area that has had potholes.
The San Clemente DMV is open until 5:00pm today. They are open Monday, Tuesday,Thursday and Friday from 8:00am till 5:00pm.
They are closed Saturday and Sunday.

San Clemente DMV still a Construction Zone: Not Opened as Scheduled

The San Clemente Department of Motor Vehicles Office remains closed today.
Previously, The city of San Clemente reported that the San Clemente DMV would reopen today Monday August 25 2014.

The site states that Martha Villalobos Lang, a DMV Administrative Manager gave them the August 25 start date. The San Clemente DMV office has been closed since January 22 2014 for repairs. The office has been scheduled to open on various occasions since January to no avail.
The DMV website does not include the San Clemente office as a closure at this time.

South OC Beaches has reached out to the DMV for more information. We spoke to them on the phone early this afternoon. They reported that the project is behind schedule and that they do not have a firm date as to when it will be reopened. They said to check back on a day to day basics.
Currently area residents are encouraged to go to the Laguna Hills DMV for their DMV needs. The Laguna Hills DMV is located at 23535 Moulton Parkway. They are open every week day from 8 am to 5 pm except on Wednesdays. On Wednesdays they open at 9:00 am.
