The Laguna Art Museum presents Surf’s Way Up: Surf Music Heritage Show tonight, Saturday November 8 2014 at 8:00pm.
This is part of the Museum’s Art and Nature series.
The Museum is located at 307 Cliff Drive.

Surf’s WAY Up explores how the unique SoCal environment and culture inspired a unique indigenous music.

This exciting interactive show follows the roots and branches of the SoCal surf music scene from 1961 to the present day and beyond.

First-person accounts from pioneers of the genre, stories from ground zero of the surf music explosion, and…music!
All played on the same vintage Fender gear that created the sound of Surf.

Matt Quilter is a veteran Orange County guitarist and member of the award-winning third-wave surf band the Reventlos.
Joining Quilter is Bob Colwell, first-wave drummer and member of Laguna Beach’s own Dave Myers and the Surftones; John Blair, second-wave pioneer with Jon & the Nightriders and author of the essential Illustrated Discography of Surf Music; Tracy Longstreth, first-wave veteran with the seminal Rhythm Rockers, who has performed with Orange County’s finest musicians for 50 years; and John Benton, former bassist with the Lively Ones of Pulp Fiction fame.
