Today, Friday March 20 2015 is Hoos’ Gow Day in the streets of downtown San Juan Capistrano.
The fun starts at 9:00am today!
The Streets of downtown San Juan Capistrano will be going way old school with their Wild West theme today.
This event is to help with costs of tomorrow’s Swallows Day Parade.

Downtown San Juan Capistrano is where Ortega Highway and Camino Capistrano meet.
The Mission San Juan Capistrano is a great landmark in the area.
Check out the Mission while you are enjoying Hoos’ Gow.
The Mission is located at 26801 Ortega Highway.

The “Sheriff” and the “Deputies” of the Fiesta Association are dressed in their traditional black and white western garb while they roam the town in search of city slickers.
If you’re not wearing western wear, watch out!
You might just be roped into the fun! The Deputies will “arrest” anyone not dressed in western attire (and some who are, but just look like they need time in the Hoos’Gow), or any man who is clean-shaven.

However, the rules often change to suit the sheriff and his over-zealous deputies, who are out to fill the jail.
There’s plenty of wild western “whooping and hollering” going on as our gunslingers fill the streets, shooting in celebration.
(Don’t worry; our “gunslingers” are all friendly, OC Sheriff approved, and are only shooting blanks).
The penalty for noncompliance is being thrown into the Hoos’Gow.
Jail sentences are short for those who can make “bail” by simply purchasing a Fiesta Association souvenir.

Frog Jumping Contest starts at 3:00pm.

Festivities till 4:00pm.

Take the Metrolink tomorrow for the Swallows Day Parade with their special Swallows Day promotions.
