The Laguna Beach Police Department is sponsoring a Bike Rodeo on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. in Parking Lot #11, located at 551 Forest Avenue (in front of the Pageant).
Do you remember the feeling of first learning to ride a bicycle on your own—without training wheels and without a parent’s balancing hand?
How about that sudden rush of freedom?
If you have to strain to think back that far, well, maybe it’s time to strap on a helmet and saddle up.
Bicycling is not only fun and freeing; it’s an excellent way to get healthy exercise.
It stands to reason why more than sixty million Americans ride bicycles. Whether you’re an avid mountain biker, competitive cyclist or simply trying to incorporate cycling into your daily routine, you too can reap the many health benefits of bicycling.
Bicycling however is not without its risks.
The Bike Rodeo is intended to promote the safe and legal operation of bicycles within our community especially for young children and teens and will include tips for parents.
The event is made up of a series of stations, each dealing with an important aspect of safe bicycling.
Participants will have their bicycles and helmets inspected, and will also put into practice safe riding techniques by navigating through an obstacle course with a member of the Laguna Beach Police bike patrol team.
There will be free hot dogs, a bike raffle for a toddler, child and teen sized bike donated by the Laguna Beach Police Employees Association and a BMX stunt show performed by Robert Castillo’s BMX Freestyle Team http://www.bmxfreestyleteam.com/.
Cyclists of all ages are encouraged to attend this FREE Family Fun Event.
We hope to see you there!
All participants are required to complete a waiver prior to participating, which can be located on the City Web Site
