UPDATE April 1 2015

April 1, 2015…San Clemente, California

The City of San Clemente received notification from the Orange County Environmental Health Division (OCEHD) that the beaches in San Clemente can be reopened after a partial closure due to a sewage spill on Monday.

The OCEHD has determined that the affected waters are in compliance with State standards.

The warning signs and red flags that were posted in the affected areas are now being removed by the City.

The City of San Clemente had imposed a partial beach closure one-half mile north and one-half mile south of the San Clemente Municipal Pier due to a sewage spill on Monday March 30 2015.

The spill included 5,200 gallons of raw sewage due to an electrical failure at the Main Pump Station that caused sewage to back up and spill at the base of the pier.
Sewer flow had been restored with temporary bypass pumps.
