The Laguna Beach Police Department will brew up their second Coffee with a Cop community event on Saturday, August 1st, where residents can connect with law enforcement officers over a free cup of organic coffee.
Laguna Beach Community Outreach Officers will be at the Laguna Beach Farmers Market starting at 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Laguna Beach Farmers Market is located at 521 Forest Avenue at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Forest Avenue.
Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the Laguna Beach Police Department.
Since the majority of contacts that officers make are during emergency situations, this is not always the most effective time for relationship building with the community.
Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction with the officers who proudly protect this city.
“I am eager for the Police Department leadership team to connect with the community and enhance our partnerships in the interest of working together to keep Laguna Beach safe for our residents, business owners and visitors,” said Chief Laura Farinella.
Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
Similar events are being held across the county, as local police departments and educational law enforcement agencies strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.
The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members, one cup of coffee at a time.
