
UPDATE From the City of Laguan Beach:
Effective Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 0600 hours, all Orange County beaches have been reopened.
Laguna Beach Public Safety Officials have been in contact with the Orange County Emergency Operations Center overnight and have concluded that there is no longer a threat of a tsunami.
There have been no reported injuries or damage.
The National Weather Service advises that although the threat of the tsunami has dissipated there is a threat of strong currents and waves throughout the day.
Use caution when entering the water. Thank you for your cooperation.
Chile ‘s central coast suffered a earthquake of 8.3 on Wednesday September 16 2015 at 3:55pm.
The National Weather Service is advising that the Chilie earthquake is likely to produce Tsunami waves in Southern California on Thursday September 17 2015.
The first waves should be hitting California around 4:45am. These waves could build for several hours.
Please stay out of the ocean and harbors.
Strong currents and waves are expected.
Please follow the directions of local law enforcement.
