
Dana Hills High School will be offering a free parent class entitled Cyber Safety and Social Networks:
Understanding teens, social media, and online threats on Tuesday October 27 2015.
This free Parent Class will be at Dana Hills Porthole Theatre from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.
Dana Hills High School is located at 33333 Golden Lantern Street in Dana Point.
The Cyber Safety for Parents class is a 90-minute seminar that will prepare parents
to effectively supervise their students on social media sites and protect them from cyber-bullying.
Cyber Safety Class is instructed by Clay Cranford .
Cranford is a 13-year law enforcement professional who is currently serving as a School Resource Officer in OC.
Clay is a nationally recognized expert on Social Media and author of Parenting In A Digital World.
The class explains current technology and applications teens are using to access the Internet and social media networks.
Cyber-bullying is defined with current trends and real world examples investigated in schools.
Participants will be given tools and an action plan that they can immediately begin using to help keep their children safe online.
Some of the topics discussed include:
Current impact of bullying in schools
Current bullying trends
“Sexting” and online predators
Online security considerations
How to monitor online activity
How to deal with a bully
School discipline and legal issues
How to set expectations and consequences
Risks associated with popular social media sites
Participants will receive an Internet Safety Contract and the Cyber Safety Checklist.
