The Dana Point Ocean Institute is open on Veteran’s Day Wednesday November 11 2015.
Veteran’s are free to weekday exhibit areas.

This is a Dana Point Family Friendly Event.

The Dana Point Ocean Institute is open from 10:00am to 4:00pm Wednesday November 11 2015.

The Dana Point Ocean Institute is located at 24200 Dana Point Harbor Drive.

There is free parking near the Ocean Institute.

Activities for the day include tours of the Brig Pilgrim and the Maddie James Seaside Learning Center, along with the new Headlands & Beyond exhibit area and experiments.

General admission applies, however Veterans are free to the weekday exhibit area.

Extended activities:

For an additional $3/person, visitors can participate in the Junior Scientist Lab at 11am and 2pm where they will dissect a squid, discover what a sea star feels like, and learn about camouflage from the master of disguise, the two-spotted octopus.

Seating is limited and on a first come first served basis.

Veteran’s Day Schedule:
10:00am – Open
11:00am – Squid Dissection
12:00pm – Tour the brig Pilgrim
1:00pm – Tour the Maddie James Seaside Learning Center
2:00pm – Squid Dissection
3:15pm – Tour the brig Pilgrim

On weekdays the campus bustles with eager students on educational field trips.

The Ocean Institute invites you explore the Headlands and Beyond exhibit area that includes:

– Local sea creatures in the Rocky Reef tank
– Interactive Globe
– ROV touchscreen
– Pop-up experiments
– Children’s playscape
– Tour the Maddie James Seaside Learning Center floating on the harbor. (11am, 12pm, 1pm, & 2pm)

Exhibits open:
The atrium, alcove, courtyard and the Maddie James Seaside Learning Center only.

Cost:
$5/person
Members & children under 2 are free
