
The National Education Association (NEA) in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, celebrates the 19th annual
“Read Across America Day” on Wednesday March 2 2015.
March 2 2016 is the 112th birthday of author Dr. Seuss.
Read Across America Day, which has grown into the nation’s largest reading observance with more than 45 million participating, is sponsored by NEA with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, Random House, and more than 30 national partners.
There are local ways you can celebrate too!
The NEA has a Read Across America Tour that is in San Diego Wednesday March 2 2016.
San Diego was picked for March 2 2016 since it is Dr. Suess hometown!
The event is at the San Diego Humane Society located at 5500 Gaines Street in San Diego.
The event is from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.
NEA Vice-President Becky Pringle will join Cat in the Hat, Thing 1, and Thing 2 along with the San Diego Humane Society volunteers to read a book on pet responsibility.
Afterward, groups of students will get a special visit from a pet!
On Wednesday March 2 2016 you could bring your early reader kids and Read To A Dog at the Dana Point Library at 3:00pm.
On Friday March 4 2016 Top of the World Elementary School in Laguna Beach will be celebrating Read Across America.
