Laguna Beach Live! at the Museum presents Sakura Thursday April 14 2016.
The Laguna Beach Live Concert at the Laguna Art Museum is from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Sakura is comprised of a new generation of cellists who are united in having studied with the great mentor and artist Ralph Kirshbaum with five core members: Jonathan Dormand, Michael Kaufman, Yoshika Masuda, Peter Myers, and Sarah Rommel.
Sakura is built on the artistry and virtuosity of its members.
Each cellist takes solo roles in turn, performing repertoire that spans eight centuries, from 14th-century motets by Guillaume de Machaut to early 17th-century madrigals by Carlo Gesualdo, to newly-commissioned 21st-century music and everything in between.
Drawing from this rich heritage, eclectic and unexpected programs are constructed around conceptual threads, with an overarching commitment to opening new vistas of beauty and expression by showcasing the great warmth and scope offered by the sound of many cellos.
The Live at Museum Concert is free with Admission.
Laguna Beach Live at the Museum is an ongoing series of early-evening concerts in the museum’s galleries, a feast of sight and sound.
In presenting the series Laguna Art Museum has partnered with Laguna Beach Live!
