The Laguna Beach Bike Rodeo is Laguna Beach Free Family Friendly Event.
The Laguna Beach Police Department Bike Rodeo & Road Safety Expo is from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. in Parking Lot #11, located at 551 Forest Avenue (in front of the Pageant).
This free event will encompass safety information for all roadway users including Cyclist, Pedestrians, and Motorists.
Whether you drive a vehicle, ride your bike, or walk, your safety depends on sharing the road safely with other vehicles and users.
The Laguna Beach Police Department continues to promote “Vision Zero,” which aims to reach zero fatalities or serious injuries on our streets.
The Bike Rodeo is intended to promote the safe and legal operation of bicycles within the Laguna Beach community, especially for young children and teens, and will include tips for parents.
Participants will have their bicycles and helmets inspected, and will also put into practice safe riding techniques by navigating through an obstacle course with a member of the Laguna Beach Police bike patrol team.
Tickets will be given out for a FREE Helmet to the first 100 riders (children and teens) *Helmets will be available for pickup at the Laguna Beach Police Department at a later date.
The Bike Rodeo and Road Safety Expo will include interactive displays such as a distracted driving simulator (for teens and adults), helicopter, police vehicles, K-9 Ranger, child ID’s, and a DUI crash car.
There will be free hot dogs, a bike raffle for a toddler, child, and teen sized bike donated by the Laguna Beach Police Employees Association; a Child Car Seat Installation Demonstration by CHP, and a BMX stunt show performed by Robert Castillo’s BMX Freestyle Team
The event involves a wide range of organizations including Cal Trans, MADD, CHP, Laguna Cyclery, Whole Foods, Mercy Air, Automobile Club of Southern California, Orange County Transportation Authority, Ghost Bikes, LOCA Arts, and Durham School services.
