The Public is Encouraged to attend.

California Coastal Commission Proposed Agenda Items August 11 2016 Include:

Application of Newport Banning Ranch LLC to conduct archeological investigations on 401 acre Banning Ranch site. Ground disturbance including hand excavated shovel test pits and potential mechanical excavation using small bucket will be used, resulting in less than 10 cu.yds. of soil disturbance, and will include Native American monitors, at 5100 block of West Coast Highway, Newport Beach, Orange County.

DEPUTY DIRECTOR’S REPORT FOR ORANGE COUNTY

Application of City of Newport Beach for 6-acre Habitat Restoration and Water Quality Improvement Project to stabilize Big Canyon creek banks, and restore floodplain to include removal of non-native vegetation, grading of 15,000 cu.yds. of soil to remove excess selenium, construct dry-weather diversion structure, expand culvert, construction of concrete lined stilling basin and rip rap, water quality treatment bio-retention cell, creation of 0.25-acre wetland, dosing station, public access trail and signage, maintenance road improvements and turn-around, significant habitat restoration and enhancement, at 1855 Jamboree Rd., Newport Beach, Big Canyon, Orange County.

Application by SeaWorld San Diego to construct new 2.5-acre attraction area within existing park consisting of 3 new 1-story structures ranging from 700 sq. feet to 1,650 sq. feet, 750-ft. long rail ride, an approx. 30-ft. tall outdoor swing ride, 2 smaller related rides, and remodel of adjacent existing buildings, at 500 SeaWorld Dr., Mission Bay, San Diego, San Diego County .

California Coastal Commission Mission

The mission of the California Coastal Commission is to protect, conserve, restore, and enhance environmental and human-based resources of the California coast and ocean for environmentally sustainable and prudent use by current and future generations.

The Commission holds monthly public meetings of three to five days in length in different locations throughout the state.
The Commission meetings provide an opportunity for the Coastal Commissioners to take public testimony and to make permit, planning, and other policy decisions.
Prior to each meeting, Commission staff collects and analyzes information pertinent to meeting agenda items and prepares written staff reports with recommendations for Commission action.
These staff reports are available for public review, by contacting the appropriate Commission office. Some
elected staff reports are also available electronically by means of a link from the Commission’s
Meeting Notice.
