Known for curating ground-breaking exhibitions, LACMA curator Stephanie Barron has been with the museum for nearly 40 years.
The Los Angeles Times reporter Carolina A, Miranda says of Barron; “Over her career, Barron has been part of the team that has helped LACMA grow from regional encyclopedic museum with a focus on American and European art to global institution with budding collections of Korean, Islamic and Latin American art.” Stephanie Barron is responsible for numerous acclaimed exhibitions including; “The Avant-Garde in Russia: 1910-1930,” “German Expressionist Sculpture,” “David Hockney: A Retrospective,” “German Expressionism 1915-1925: The Second Generation,” “Exiles and Émigrés: The Flight of European Artists from Hitler,” and “Art of Two Germanys/Cold War Cultures”. She co-organized LACMA’s millennium project, “Made in California: Art, Image, and Identity, 1900-2000.”
Barron is the author of Degenerate Art
She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
