Each year the Laguna Plein Air Painting Invitational transforms Laguna Beach, the famous seaside community and historic artist colonyinto an outdoor painting studio.
The West Coast’s most prestigious plein air art event, the Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational is October 8 2016 thru October 16 2016.
This event showcases the nation’s top plein air landscape painters who compete for prestigious prizes.
The 9-day plein air celebration includes public paint-outs, painting demonstrations, PleinTalk conversations, and educational events and activities.
This annual Painting Invitational celebrates the artistic legacy of Laguna Beach founded by the early California impressionist and plein air painters like William Wendt, Anna Hills, Frank Cuprien and Edgar Payne who were instrumental in opening the first Laguna art gallery.
Laguna Plein Air Painting Invitational Monday October 10 2016 Schedule
10:00am-1:00pm: Kids Paint Out & Cookie Reception at Heisler Park
Heisler Park is located at 375 Cliff Drive.
There is metered parking near the park.
Local school children have a unique opportunity to have a plein air painting experience guided by LPAPA artist mentors.
The artwork created by the children will be exhibited at Forest & Ocean Gallery beginning Thursday October 13 2016. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the children’s artwork is donated to the participating schools.
Dawn to Dusk: Artists In Action at Various Locations
The artists will be painting Laguna and surrounding areas.
The public is invited to watch the Artists as they paint “en plein air” and share photos using hashtag #LPAPA18th
6:30pm-8:30pm: Plein Talks: Plein Talks with the Artists: “Ask Us Any Question” at Forest & Ocean Gallery
Forest & Ocean Gallery is located at 480 Ocean Avenue.
This will be an open and lively discussion with Gil Dellinger, Mike Hernandez, Shelby Keefe, Peggi Kroll-Roberts and Ray Roberts.
The Artists will share their plein air painting experiences.
Seating is limited.

Laguna Beach All Day Public Parking:
There are 8 public parking lots in the City of Laguna Beach.
Prices : $10-15 all day with slight increases on weekends and holidays.
Meters:
The City of Laguna Beach has ample metered parking on Laguna Canyon Road and within the city streets.
Meters Pricing:
$2-3 per hour for a 3 hour maximum in the downtown area.
The meters accept most credit cards.
Parking is strictly enforced daily from 8:00am-9:00pm.
