South Coast Water District (SCWD) Tunnel Stabilization & Sewer Pipeline Replacement Project Team Open House is from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at SCWD.
South Laguna Beach homes and businesses sewage is conveyed in a 60 year old two mile tunnel beneath a local bluff.
Presently the tunnel is in dire need of repair.
It is undersized, deteriorating and unsafe, posing a risk of falling rocks in the tunnel resulting in a major spill
The District owns a 15,000 square foot parcel on the corner of 4th Ave. and South Coast Highway.
This is the primary access point for the Tunnel Stabilization & Sewer Pipeline Replacement Project.
The construction is expected to begin at the end of January 2017.
