Dana Point Ocean Institute takes you on a adventure sail Saturday July 22 2017 on a Tallship!
Sailing is at 1:00pm with a 4:00pm return time.
Set sail aboard the schooner Spirit of Dana Point and experience California from the perspective of an early tallship explorer!
Join the crew to help raise sail, handle lines, and steer the ship, or simply sit back, relax and enjoy the majesty of sailing the seas aboard a tallship.
A tallship is a large traditionally rigged sailing vessel.
Popular modern tall ship rigs include topsail schooners, brigantines, brigs and barques.
The Ocean Institute maintains two tall ships,
the brig, Pilgrim, and the Spirit of Dana Point,
an accurate replica of a 1770’s privateer used during the American Revolution.

$60/Adult (18-54)
$50/Senior (55 & up) and Active Duty Military (ID required)
$40/Child (12 and under; minimum age 4)
Members receive a 10% discount.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Ticket purchase includes admission to the Ocean Institute Education Center the day of the sail.

The Dana Point Ocean Institute hosts a Bioluminescence Night Cruise Saturday July 22 2017.
The Bioluminescence Night Cruise is from 8:30pm to 10:30pm.
There’s a luminous underwater world just waiting to shine!
Learn about the remarkable ability of some marine animals to glow in the dark and witness this curiously beautiful phenomenon.
Come aboard the R/V Sea Explorer and join in at night off the coast of Dana Point to encounter bioluminescent plankton.*
A meter net is deployed to capture thousands of these drifting organisms that have the ability to make their own light.
Also, witness the food chain under our deployed squid light–from the tiniest of plankton, to fish and squid–and at times the sea lions and dolphin who feed on them!
*Please be advised that forces of nature determine the abundance of bioluminescence at any given time.
