The San Clemente Coastal Advisory Committee meets Thursday November 9 2017.
A Special Seal Level Rising Presentation will be the Focus of this Meeting.

The meeting is scheduled at 6:00pm.

The meeting will be at the San Clemente City Council Chambers.
The San Clemente Council Chambers is located at 100 Avenida Presidio.
The public is encouraged to attend.

Proposed Discussion Items Include:

San Clemente’s efforts to prepare a Sea Level Rise (SLR) Vulnerability Assessment (Study).

This Study is part of the City’s ongoing Local Coastal Program (LCP) Update.

The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.

The City received a second LCP Planning Grant from the California Coastal Commission (CCC) in 2017 to continue efforts on the Land Use Plan Amendment that was initiated in 2014 and to prepare an SLR Study and the companion LCP Implementation Plan (IP).

In the summer of 2017, the City initiated efforts to prepare the SLR Study which is based in part on the guidelines contained within the 2015 CCC Sea Level Rise Policy Guidance document.

The basic steps of the SLR Study are anticipated to include:

Identification and mapping of potential future sea level rise hazards

Assessment of the vulnerability of development and resources in the coastal zone

Development of a range of adaptation strategies/policies to minimize effects from SLR

The next regular meeting of the Coastal Advisory Committee on Thursday December 14 2017 at 7:00 P.M., in the Ole Hanson Fireside Room, at the Community Center, 100 N. Seville, San Clemente, California.
