The California Coastal Commission monthly public meeting is in Cambria California Thursday February 8 2018 and Friday February 9 2018.
The California Coastal Commission voted unanimously on Wednesday February 7 2018 in urging Federal Leaders to remove California from a program to open new oil and gas leases.
In a Letter to BOEM (Bureau of Ocean Energy Management) the Commission expressed their outraged that “BOEM is recklessly threatening the health of California’s Coastal Environment and the future of California’s multi-trillion dollar economy.”
The Commission also pointed out that Florida was being considered for exemption due to “their unique coastal tourism economy” and that California’s Coastal tourism Economy was “three times greater”.

California Coastal Commission Mission
The mission of the California Coastal Commission is to protect, conserve, restore, and enhance environmental and human-based resources of the California coast and ocean for environmentally sustainable and prudent use by current and future generations.
The Commission holds monthly public meetings of three to five days in length in different locations throughout the state.
The Commission meetings provide an opportunity for the Coastal Commissioners to take public testimony and to make permit, planning, and other policy decisions.
Prior to each meeting, Commission staff collects and analyzes information pertinent to meeting agenda items and prepares written staff reports with recommendations for Commission action.
