The San Onofre Nuclear Generating Plant Community Engagement Panel Decommissioning and Fuel Transfer Updates Meeting is Thursday March 22 2018 in Laguna Hills California.
The public is strongly encouraged to attend this Community meeting.
This regular meeting of the Community Engagement Panel (CEP) is formed to advise the community of the San Onofre Nuclear Plant on decommissioning the facility.

The San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Community Engagement Panel Decommissioning Meeting is at Laguna Hills Community Center at 5:30pm.
Laguna Hills Community Center is located at 24035 El Toro Road in Laguna Hills.

The meeting will focus on Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Decommissioning for San Onofre now that the plant is permanently shut down.

The meeting also will include opportunities for public comments.

Local Grass Roots Community Watch Dog Group San Clemente Green is participating in two major efforts being requested of the CEP.
The first effort is to promote real time radiation monitoring available to the public.
The second effort is to promote a special CEP meeting to consider potential threats that have previously been dismissed and ignored as being too unlikely to warrant further discussion.

SCE and the co-owners of the nuclear plant established the CEP to serve as a conduit of information between the owners and the public throughout decommissioning.
The current owners of San Onofre are SCE, San Diego Gas & Electric and the city of Riverside.
The city of Anaheim is a previous owner.
Current and previous owners are responsible for decommissioning.

SCE announced in June 2013 that it would retire San Onofre Units 2 and 3, and has begun decommissioning the facility. SCE has established core principles of safety, stewardship and engagement to guide decommissioning.
