The Southern California Holy Fire is ongoing Wednesday August 15 2018.
The Holy Fire in Cleveland National Forest is in Orange and Riverside Counties.
The Holy Fire is at 22,986 acres and 78% containment.
Mandatory Evacuation Orders have affected over 21,484 Community Members.
There is unhealthy air quality throughout the Southern California area.

Cleveland National Forest Officials are reporting that the Holy Fire did not move last night and containment is at 78%.
The Holy Fire is expected to be fully contained by Tuesday August 21 2018.
Cleveland National Forest Officials are reminding residents “that they can expect to see smoke for several weeks as large vegetation continues to burn within the fire perimeter.”

Currently, 911 lines are being flooded with reports of smoke and fire.
Officials ask that you please do not call 911 to report smoke if it occurs within the fire perimeter.
Cleveland National Forest Officials ask, “If you notice smoke and flames that are well outside these boundaries please inform officials.”

Cleveland National Forest Officials are reporting that, “Limited access, extreme temperatures, steep topography, old-growth vegetation, and limited resources were all factors in the spread of the Holy Fire.”
These conditions contributed to one of the largest non-wind driven fires on the Trabuco Ranger District.
The last non-wind driven fire was the Indians Fire in 1966.

Wednesday August 15 2018 Cleveland National Forest Firefighters Planned Actions
Hand crews will continue to build fire line from the point of origin towards the north and east.
With the decrease in extreme fire behavior crews are looking for places they can now anchor and go direct on the fire while additional resources are building contingency lines and preparing for a possible burnout operation.
Suppression repair will begin.

Wednesday August 15 2018 Holy Fire Projected Incident Activity

Fire activity continues to moderate.
On the North and East perimeter along the foothills, green stringers and islands of unburned fuel continue to burn.
Direct hand line construction is in progress south of Anderson Canyon on the northern edge of the fire.
Heavy fuels and steep terrain make final control on the North end of the fire difficult.
This same rugged terrain, heavy fuels, and inaccessibility require direct helicopter support of crews to enable them to safely complete mop up and secure the fire line.
Bell Canyon is still actively burning which requires direct support for the resources on the ground.
