Dana Point Science Night will highlight “Thar She Blows! Life on a Whaleship” .
Dana Point Science Night is at The Dana Point City Council Chambers at 6:30pm till 8:00pm.
Bob Minty will be presenting from the Dana Point Historical Society on this insightful time and how it was to live the life of a whaler.
A crew’s rations often ranged from unpleasant to revolting, but the hard work aboard a whaling vessel gave them great appetites!
Come learn about the life of a whaler and the art of adorning whale bones with engravings and carvings called scrimshaw.
Bob Minty is a collector of all things whales and will bring his extensive whaling artifacts including scrimshaw and harpoons to Science Night!
Dana Point Science Nights allow you to learn about local ecosystems, California’s unique flora and fauna, and new science research in Orange County.
Presentations feature local and esteemed experts from the scientific community.
