The Laguna Beach Arts Commission meets Monday November 26 2018 at 5:30pm.

The Laguna Beach Arts Commission will be meeting at Laguna Beach City Council Chambers.
Laguna Beach City Council Chambers is located at 505 Forest Avenue.
The public is encouraged to attend.

Members of the Arts Commission advise City Council about matters pertaining to artistic and aesthetic aspects of the City.
This includes rules and regulations necessary for the administration and preservation of fine arts, performing arts, and aesthetic aspects of the community.
Members of the Arts Commission serve two-year terms.

Proposed Discussion Items Include:

2019 Friday Flicks – Discuss and approve the film selections for 2019.

February 1, 2019- Leaning into the Wind (2018) “British sculptor and environmentalist Andy Goldsworthy uses his natural surroundings to create works of art in San Francisco, St. Louis, New England, Brazil, Scotland and France.”

March 1, 2019- The Gospel According to Andre (2017) “Filmmaker Kate Novack explores the life and career of fashion journalist André Leon Talley — from his childhood in the segregated South to his iconic, barrier-breaking work at Women’s Wear Daily, W and Vogue.”

April 5, 2019- Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda (2017) “One of the most important artists of our era, Ryuichi Sakamoto has had a prolific career spanning over four decades. From techno-pop stardom to Oscar- winning film composer, the evolution of his music has coincided with his life journeys. Following Fukushima, Sakamoto became an iconic figure in Japan’s social movement against nuclear power. As Sakamoto returns to music following a cancer diagnosis, his haunting awareness of life crises leads to a resounding new masterpiece.”

Children’s Holiday Palette Exhibition – Select up to 12 designs for installation at City Hall.
This year 174 entries were received from children ages 5 to 14 years old.
The selected artists will be recognized with a special awards ceremony at the City Council meeting on December 4, 2018.

Thalia Street Beach Access – Discuss and approve revisions to the design.

Year End Report – Programming and achievements during the past year.
