The City of Dana Point reminds the Community that “We all have a role to play in this effort to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).” “Protecting the well-being of our community is our number one priority.”
City of Dana Point COVID-19 Community Updates for Wednesday March 18 2020
City Council Update
Last night the City Council ratified a Proclamation declaring the existence of a local emergency, enhancing the City’s emergency preparedness.
This provides for enhanced procurement of materials if needed, access to Federal and State funds and meeting procedures for the City’s public meetings to be held via teleconference for the time being. The City Council will revisit the declaration linked here, again in 14 days.
The City Council is aware of the Governor’s Executive Order N-28-20, which can be found here.
The Council has asked staff to further investigate this item related to offering temporary relief from certain eviction and foreclosure actions.
The City is continuing to provide core services and monitoring official sources of information on COVID-19.
County of Orange Action Update
The County of Orange’s Health Officer took an action yesterday related to gatherings that caused confusion. The County has revised its order and the new order can be found here.
The revision advises that bars shall close, and restaurants shall close their dining rooms but still allow takeout and delivery.
Gyms, health clubs and movie theaters shall also close as a result of this new order.
Other businesses can remain open but must follow social distancing guidelines.
The general public should not be gathering in groups.

COVID-19 Webinar with Guest Speaker Dr. Afif El-Hasan, Kaiser Permanente: The District is hosting a Webinar on Friday, March 20, 2020 at 1 p.m. regarding Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.
The District has guest speaker, Dr. Afif El-Hasan, Physician-in-Charge, Department of Pediatrics at Kaiser Permanente San Juan Capistrano.
They’ll share information about the virus, preventative measures, resources available, and provide answers to frequently asked questions.

Franchise Tax Board
Prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Franchise Tax Board leaders announced they would grant an extension to file 2019 California tax returns and make payments until June 15, in accordance with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s March 12 executive order. More information is available here.
