Dana Point City Council Meeting Tuesday April 7 2020 at 6:00pm
The City Council will be meeting to consider ratifying Amendment 2 to the City’s declaration of a local emergency, which will extend the emergency proclamation and consider other provisions to streamline City processes during this dynamic situation.
The agenda also includes a budget status report.

Dana Point Spring Session of Recreation Classes Are Cancelled
Classes which were to start the week of April 13th 2020.
Participants are being notified and refund checks will be processed and mailed out.

County of Orange is Reporting COVID-19 Cases by City

Orange County Tax Deadlines and Penalty Cancellation Requests
State law governs when property taxes are due and payable, and the Treasurer-Tax Collector is not authorized to change the April 10 deadline.
After April 10, if the taxpayer is a homeowner, small business or other property owner with significant demonstrated economic hardship due to COVID-19 or believe that they qualify for one of the other limited exceptions and can’t pay by April 10, then as soon as the taxpayer is able to pay, they should request a Penalty Cancellation.
All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

County of Orange is Following the State Public Health Department Guidance on wearing Face Coverings in Public.
California Department of Public Health states Californians who must leave their homes to conduct essential activities should wear face coverings, if they feel comfortable doing so, and practice strict hand washing before and after touching and adjusting the covering.
Staying at home, physical distancing and hand washing are still the best actions Californians can take to fight COVID-19.

Orange County Community Services Businesses Call Center
Orange County Community Services has implemented a call center to meet the needs of businesses impacted by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Economic & Business Recovery Call Center will offer information and resources to help Orange County businesses navigate the current economic climate.
These resources will support businesses with challenges such as lay-off aversion, loans, utility reduction programs, and community resources mapping.
Businesses can call the Economic & Business Recovery Call Center at (714) 480-6500 during hours of operation Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm.

The State of California has launched a webpage linked here targeted at businesses and employers to provide information on several assistance programs, including small business interest free deferral of sales/use tax up to $50,000 for businesses with less than $5 million in taxable sales, 90 day extension on all businesses filing a return for less than $1 million in taxes and California Small Business Loan Guarantee Program (via IBank).
The page also links to Federal small business stimulus programs such as the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Advance, Paycheck Protection Program and Small Business Debt Relief.
Retired Doctors and Medical Students to Help with COVID-19
Governor Gavin Newsom is asking retired doctors and medical students to help with the anticipated surge of coronavirus cases. His Executive Order can be found here.

Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the “Stay Home. Save Lives. Check In.” campaign urging Californians to help combat social isolation and food insecurity among Californians who are over the age of 65 – a community that is uniquely vulnerable to COVID-19.
The Governor also announced the creation of a statewide hotline — 833-544-2374 — in coordination with the non-profit local 2-1-1 systems, so that Californians have a one-stop shop to answer their questions and get assistance during this crisis.
For example, the 2-1-1 system is able to help older Californians access grocery and medication delivery while staying at home.

Safe Water
Mouton Niguel and South Coast Water District want to assure residents that our water is safe and reliable. Water quality and supply have not been affected by the coronavirus (COVID -19).
San Diego Gas & Electric (SDGE)
SDG&E has suspended disconnections for nonpayment until further notice.
They have also implemented a number of tools to help customers online
So Cal Gas
SoCalGas is working with residential customers on bill payment and small businesses by waiving late payment fees. They also have tips to save energy. Learn More at SoCalGas.
Cox Communications
Cox has temporarily adjusted its Cox Solutions Store hours in California as residents are directed to stay at home amid the coronavirus pandemic.
As an essential business that provides critical communications services, Cox Solutions Store locations will stay open from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Monday through Friday to serve customers.
Stores will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
