The County of Orange Encourages everyone to “Stay Home, Stay Safe and Pay Online”.

Orange County Tax Collector Shari Freidenrich reminds Orange County property owners that the second installment of property taxes is due no later than Friday April 10 2020.

The 2nd Installment becomes delinquent at close of business on Friday April 10 2020.

California State law governs when property taxes are due and payable, and Treasurer-Tax Collector (Treasurer) is not authorized to change the April 10 2020 deadline.
You can pay online using the no cost eCheck (bank account) payment option that provides same day credit and an emailed or printed receipt and is secure once you get to the third party payment page.

COVID Impacts Taxpayers Ability to Pay Property Taxes

“I understand and sympathize with the financial impacts that COVID-19 may have had on our taxpayers,” states Treasurer Freidenrich.
“I also understand that the upcoming property tax payment may be one of the largest single expenditures that taxpayers make each year.”
Property taxes fund critical local government services, including those services needed during this emergency, and we encourage taxpayers to pay by April 10 2020 if they can.

Penalty Cancellation Request Information is Online

After April 10 2020 if the taxpayer is a homeowner, small business or other property owner with significant demonstrated economic hardship due to COVID-19 or believe that they qualify for one of the other limited exceptions and can’t pay by April 10 2020, then as soon as the taxpayer is able to pay, they should request a Penalty Cancellation. All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

You can go online at County of Orange Treasurer Tax Collector for more information and to pay your property taxes online.

Taxpayers can make payments using this method up to midnight on April 10 2020 by going to OCGOV

Taxpayers can also include their e-mail address to have their payment receipt e-mailed directly to them.

Payments must be completed on their website by midnight on April 10 2020 to be considered timely.

All late payments will be charged a 10% delinquency penalty.

Mailed payments must be postmarked on or before April 10 2020 with a U.S. Postmark.
