Orange County Fire Authority is using ground crews and helicopters to control the fire.
UPDATES
7:45pm: Orange County Fire Authority Reports that “both north & southbound lanes of Laguna Canyon Road are now open to traffic. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
7:19pm: The City of Laguna Beach expects Laguna Canyon Road between Hwy 73 and the 405 Fwy to remain closed in both directions for the next 30 minutes.
5:58pm: Orange County Fire Authority is reporting that “The forward progress of the fire has been stopped. A total of 7 acres burned. Crews are continuing to check for hot spots & will remain on scene. No timeline on reopening of Laguna Canyon Rd. (Hwy 133).”
5:28pm: Laguna Beach Police Department is reporting that, “Laguna Beach Police Department and Laguna Beach Fire Department are assisting OCFA with two active fires outside our city limits off the 133 north of the 73. There is no threat to homes in Laguna Beach.”
5:17pm: Orange County Fire Authority is reporting that “Ground crews along with ORCO Helicopters 1 & 2 and Duke 6 are on scene. There is no spread potential at this time.”
5:07pm: They City of Laguna Beach expects Laguna Canyon Road (Hwy 73) to be closed in both directions for at least the next hour.
4:41pm: The City of Laguna Beach reports that both directions of Laguna Canyon Road (Hwy 133) is closed between Highway 73 and the 405 Freeway due to a vegetation fire.
