The State of California
Tenant/Homeowner/Small Landlord Relief & Stabilization Act of 2020
Governor Newsom signed an emergency measure on Monday, AB3088, the Tenant, Homeowner and Small Landlord Relief and Stabilization Act of 2020, which bans evictions based on unpaid rent March through August, and requires tenants to pay 25% of their rents between September 1 2020 and January 31 2021. The law does not eliminate unpaid rent, and that debt can be pursued in court.
More about the action can be found here.
California Housing Is Key Campaign
Following the Tenant, Homeowner and Small Landlord Relief and Stabilization Act of 2020, Governor Newsom announced his Housing is Key campaign and launched a new website to connect tenants and landlords with important information about relief and protections under the new State law.
That website can be found here.
California COVID-19 Website And Monitoring System
The State has refreshed their Covid 19 Website and modified the State’s monitoring system.
A new tiered, color coded system for counties was introduced based on cases and positive tests per 100,000 residents.
The tiers range from purple, representing widespread disease transmission; red representing substantial transmission; orange representing moderate; and yellow representing minimal.
Currently, Orange County is listed as purple.
A new tool on the website, “Blueprint for a Safer Economy” linked here allows visitors to see reopening status of industries in each county.
County numbers are to be assessed weekly on Mondays, with the first numbers coming out on Tuesday September 8 2020.
That date may be Orange County’s first chance to move from purple to red.
