Eight Boats caught fire in Dana Point Harbor Thursday February 18 2021.
UPDATE: Orange County Harbor Patrol Officials state that a 25 Foot Power Boat caused the fire. The Boat was having maintenance tasks performed when it exploded and caused a fire in B Dock West. The Numbers of Boats affected has been revised to seven boats.
Orange County Sheriffs Department (OCSD) Harbor Patrol were notified around 9:30am that a boat explosion occurred in Dana Point Harbor.
Harbor patrol deputies in partnership with Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) Firefighters responded quickly and were able to put out the fire a little after 10:00am.
In all, eight boats were damaged.
Orange County Sheriff’s Department stated that one boat partially sank, and three boats were destroyed. There was also one minor injury reported.
Orange County Fire Authority reports that Fire Investigators have preliminary determined the cause of the fire to be accidental.
