Laguna Beach CalTrans Work on Coast Highway April 1 2021 Thru May 2021.

CalTrans plans to replace the deteriorated portion of a 100 year old box culvert under Coast Highway, just south of Broadway.
The project is intended to be completed before summer 2021.
Businesses will remain open during CalTrans construction.

Traffic Impacts

Expect significant traffic impacts throughout the project.
Estimated construction dates are from April 1 2021 until May 28 2021.
To help drivers avoid the construction area, traffic control personnel will be located at many downtown intersections.
During construction, traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction.
Parking on Coast Highway between Broadway and Ocean will be restricted.
Signage will be posted to notify drivers of the closure.
Plan an alternate route that avoids Coast Highway in Laguna Beach.

CalTrans Planned Construction Schedule

Phase 1 Construction Activities

April 1 2021-April 9 2021: Sawcut and remove pavement and channel.
April 8 & 10: Roadway closures in both directions are scheduled on Coast Highway from 8:00pm to 8:00am.
Traffic detours will be in place via local streets.
April 12 2021-April 17 2021: Set Precast boxes and build transition cast-in-place box
April 19 2021-April 22 2021: Backfill and pave roadway

Phase 2 Construction Activities

April 23 2021-April 28 2021: Sawcut and remove pavement and channel
May 4 2021-May 13 2021: Set Precast boxes and build transition cast in-place box
May 14 2021-May 22 2021: Backfill and pave roadway
May 23 2021: Complete sidewalk
May 24 2021: Stripe roadway

This work schedule is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
