The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Red Flag Warning for Southern California on Wednesday November 24 2021.
The High Wind Warning remains in effect thru Friday November 26 2021 at 3:00pm.
The National Weather Service explains that ,”Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds and low relative humidity can contribute to extreme fire behavior.”
Southern California strongest winds will occur late into the afternoon on Wednesday November 24 2021 thru early Thursday November 25 2021.
Southern California Winds are expected to be between 20mph to 30mph with gusts of up to 60mph.
South OC Beaches is expected to have their highest winds of 13mph after 6:00pm on Wednesday November 24 2021.
Red Flag High Wind Warning Safety Measures
Keep Home Landscaping Burn Free
Create and maintain an area approximately 30’ away from you home that is free of anything that will burn, such as wood piles, dried leaves, newspapers, brush, and other landscaping that can burn.
From 30 feet to 100 feet reduce or replace as much of the most flammable vegetation as possible and prune vegetation, create “fuel breaks,” such as driveways, gravel walkways, and lawns.
Work with neighbors to create spaces up to 200 feet around your homes where vegetation is thinned to remove underbrush and tall trees do not touch each other for continuous canopies.
Bring Flammable Objects In Doors
Avoid Use Of Equipment That May Generate Sparks
Keep Roof Free of Debris
Regularly clean the roof and gutters.
Keep Phones Charged
Keep Car Gas Tanks At Least Half Full And Back Into Driveway
Be Water Ready
Connect garden hoses long enough to reach any area of the home and fill garbage cans, tubs, or other large containers with water.
