Laguna Beach Emerald Fire Evacuation Orders Are Lifted Thursday February 10 2022.

The Emerald Fire started in the early morning hours on Thursday February 10 2022.
The Emerald Fire displaced residents and closed down the iconic Coast Highway 1 in Laguna Beach California.
As Laguna Beach heads into the late afternoon, Coast Highway is reopened and residents are able to return to their homes.

Laguna Beach Mayor Sue Kempf states “the number one concern is the safety of our residents.”.

At this time, there are no major threats to region and no reports of structure loss.
Laguna Beach Fire and Police will be patrolling overnight at Irvine Cove to perform fire watch in the area to watch for hot spots. OCFA will patrol the unincorporated Emerald Bay area.
Neighboring State Parks will remain closed.

The City’s new Outdoor Warning System was used to alert residents of the evacuation and the new Helipod filling station on the Fire Road was put into service and water drops from the air were deployed to fight the fire from both the air and the ground.

All Evacuation Orders for Irvine Cove and Emerald Bay in Laguna Beach are LIFTED and residents may return to their homes.

An Evacuation Warning for Irvine Cove, Emerald Bay and North Laguna will remain IN EFFECT until further notice and residents should remain on heightened alert and be ready to evacuate if needed on short notice.

Southern California Edison is on scene and waiting to get permission from the Incident Command Post before re-energizing power lines and evacuated residents returning home should know their homes may not yet have power.

Orange County Hiking Trials Closed Due to Emerald Fire

The City of Irvine is reporting that: “All trails within Crystal Cove State Park and Laguna Wilderness Park are closed due to the #EmeraldFire. Bommer Canyon remains open, but access to those parks from the West Fork Trail is closed at the Laguna Wilderness intersect.” (Twitter at 11:00am)

Orange County Fire Authority reports a 7 acre Vegetation Fire in Emerald Bay.
Resources and additional strike teams have been requested from throughout OC and the region to support firefighting efforts.

Fire Progression: Strong Winds are pushing the Fire North and West (OCFA at 7:20am Press Conference)

Emerald Fire Damage: No Structures. 145 acres burned.
