Your Letter Carrier will pick up your food donation and deliver it to those in need.
The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its 27th annual food drive Saturday May 11 2024.
Letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes.
It is the nation’s largest single-day food drive, and is held annually on the second Saturday in May in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.
Over the last 30 national food drives, letter carriers have collected more than 1.5 billion pounds of food, helped by untold thousands of fellow postal employees, retired letter carriers, family members and friends.
To donate, just place a box or can of non-perishable food next to your mailbox before your letter carrier delivers mail on the second Saturday in May.
The carrier will do the rest.
The food is sorted, and delivered to an area food bank or pantry, where it is available for needy families.
