Southern California Airport Fire Guide Friday September 20 2024.

Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) Santiago Hand Crew Firefighters were injured during a accident on the 241 Freeway on Thursday September 19 2024.
Eight Members of OCFA were taken to area hospitals after their Fire Truck swerved to avoid hitting a ladder on the Freeway.
Firefighters were returning from the Airport Fire after working a 12 Hour Shift.
OCFA will be having a news conference at 10:00am on Friday September 20 2024 to update the community on their conditions.

Update With Cal Fire Friday September 20 2024 at 5:40am

Fire at 51% Containment with 23,519 acres burned. Ortega Highway is fully opened.
Cal Fire Reports that: Highway 74 is now open. There is still infrastructure repair occurring through Highway 74 please use caution and slow to a safe speed. Commuters should expect intermittent lengthy delays due to ongoing repair of infrastructure along the highway. Be aware that several roads off of Ortega Highway in or near the fire area in both Riverside and Orange Counties remain closed.

Cleveland National Forest Closure
September 18 2024 thru September 17 2025
The Cleveland NF has temporary closure of the Trabuco Ranger District of the Cleveland National Forest.
This closure prohibits going into or being upon any National Forest System lands, roads, and trails within the boundaries of the Trabuco Ranger District.
The closure will be in effect from September 18, 2024 until September 17, 2025, to provide for public health and safety concerns related to the Airport Fire.

Orange County Fire Authority Evening Update Thursday September 29 2024 at 4:00pm

The #AirportFire has grown to 23,519 acres, spanning both Orange and Riverside Counties.
The efforts of firefighters on both the ground and in the air are a testament to their dedication in protecting the communities impacted by the fire.
Ground crews have worked tirelessly to extinguish the flames and mitigate hazards, while aerial support has bolstered and supported those efforts.
The terrain has been extremely dangerous and challenging, but crews continue to push forward to contain the fire and ensure it remains within its current boundaries.

Orange County Parks Closures

Arden: Helena Modjeska Historic House and Gardens, Bell View Trail, Caspers Wilderness Park and O’Neill Regional Park remain closed due to the #AirportFire.

All camping reservations at Caspers Wilderness Park and O’Neill Regional Park have been canceled through Monday September 23 2024.
Anyone with questions regarding campsite reservations can call (949) 923-2260.

Riley Wilderness Park and Saddleback Gateway (Library of the Canyons) have reopened for public access.
