Update on Wednesday January 8 2025 at 9:05pm: Palisades Fire

Cal Fire Is Incident Commander of the Palisades Fire.

Southern California is under Red Flag Alert due to growing strong winds and surrounding dry topography.

Residents of Pacific Palisades and some residents of Santa Monica and Malibu are under mandatory evacuation orders.

The City of Malibu stated at 1:30pm: “The fire spans from the Palisades to the eastern edge of the Franklin scar. High winds blowing WSW and low humidity continue to drive the fire.”

At 5:07pm: The Palisades fire is estimated at 15,832 acres

At 5:07pm: 13,306 Structures Threatened

At 5:07pm: 300 Structures Destroyed

At 8:30am: 37,000 Residents are under Evacuation Orders. 15,000 Structures are at Risk.

At 8:30am: 20,000 Residents are under Evacuation Warnings. 6500 Structures are at Risk.

At 1:30pm: Natural Gas has been shut off to Malibu.
All gas stations in Malibu are currently non-operational.

Evacuation Order north of Montana Avenue from the beach to 11th Street. Residents in this area must leave IMMEDIATELY and the area is closed to public access.

Evacuation Warning remains for all additional areas north of Montana Avenue and this warning is expanded to all areas north of Wilshire Boulevard and west of 10th Street.

Pacific Palisades Is Under Evacuation Orders

The City of Pacific Palisades has over 23,000 residents.

Immediate threat to life. This is a lawful order to LEAVE NOW.
The area is lawfully closed to public access.

Palisades Fire History
Cal Fire Reports that Palisades Fire started at 10:30am in Pacific Palisades.
The Wild Fire started near 1190 North Piedra Morada Drive and was at 20 acres when LA Fire responded. Wind was at 25mph with gusts at 50mph.
At 11:30am the fire was estimated at 200 acres. At 8:30am on Wednesday January 8 2025 the Fire grew to over 5000 acres.
