California Governor Newsom Deploys California National Guard to Los Angeles Fires
On Thursday January 9 2025 California Governor Newsom is deploying the California National Guard to Los Angeles Fires, including the Palisades Fire Area.

Santa Monica Issues Curfew In Evacuation Zone
The city of Santa Monica has issued an emergency order in response to the impacts of the Palisades Fire.
The emergency order includes a curfew, from sunset to sunrise, in the areas where a mandatory evacuation order is in effect to support law enforcement efforts in these zones, and other measures to facilitate an effective response.
The City of Santa Monica is reporting that,”2,472 households under a mandatory evacuation order within the city of Santa Monica and 8,338 under a voluntary evacuation warning.”
Palisades Fire is at 19,978 Acres with 6% containment. 13,306 Structures are threatened. 300 Structures are destroyed.
Cal Fire reports, “Extreme fire behavior, including both short- and long-range spotting, continues to pose significant challenges to firefighting efforts for the Palisades Fire.
Wind gusts of up to 60 MPH are forecasted to persist through Thursday.”

Palisades Fire History
Cal Fire Reports that Palisades Fire started at 10:30am in Pacific Palisades.
The Wild Fire started near 1190 North Piedra Morada Drive and was at 20 acres when LA Fire responded. Wind was at 25mph with gusts at 50mph.
At 11:30am the fire was estimated at 200 acres. At 8:30am on Wednesday January 8 2025 the Fire grew to over 5000 acres.
