Pacific Palisades Fire Guide Saturday January 11 2025.

Update on Saturday January 11 2025 8:53am Palisades Fire

Palisades Fire is 11% contained and 22,661 acres have burned.

Los Angeles County has declared a local health emergency.

Due to unhealthy conditions, LA County recommends not entering the Ocean between Malibu’s Surfrider and Playa Del Rey’s Dockweiler Beaches.

The City and County of Los Angeles City and County is in a continued official State of Emergency due to the multiple fires that are burning in the LA area.

Cal Fire reports on Saturday January 11 2025: “UCLA students are on high alert. UCLA Housing sent an email urging campus residents to stay vigilant and ready to evacuate due to the nearby Palisades fire. While this is not an evacuation order, Bruins were advised to prepare a bag of essentials and follow guidance if the order is extended to campus.”
For today, north to northeast winds will gradually increase, peaking in strength this evening and overnight.
A FIRE WEATHER WATCH will begin at 6:00PM tonight and will remain in effect through 6:00PM Sunday night.
Moderate to strong Santa Ana winds are likely to return Tuesday and Wednesday, creating critical fire weather conditions.

New 405 FWY OFF RAMP Closures

The following off-ramps are closed along Interstate 405 (I-405):

Getty Center Drive off-ramps in both directions closed.

Skirball Center Drive off-ramps in both directions closed.

Southbound Sunset Blvd. off-ramp closed.

Southbound Wilshire Blvd. off-ramp closed.

Southbound Santa Monica Blvd. off-ramp closed.

Southbound Olympic/Pico Blvd. off-ramp closed.

Malibu Building Inspectors Damage Assessment

Malibu Building inspectors are conducting rapid visual assessments; number of damaged/destroyed structures TBD

At this time, the fire has extended beyond the burn scar of the Franklin Fire, although it is not advancing further into Malibu City limits.

Santa Monica Issues Curfew In Evacuation Zone at 6:00pm-6:00am
The city of Santa Monica has issued an emergency order in response to the impacts of the Palisades Fire.
The emergency order includes a curfew, from sunset to sunrise, in the areas where a mandatory evacuation order is in effect to support law enforcement efforts in these zones, and other measures to facilitate an effective response.

The City of Santa Monica is reporting that,”2,472 households under a mandatory evacuation order within the city of Santa Monica and 8,338 under a voluntary evacuation warning.

Palisades Fire is at 21,317 Acres with 8% containment. 13,306 Structures are threatened. More than 5000 Structures are damaged or destroyed.

New Mandatory Evacuation for some residents of Encino, Tarzana and Brentwood on Friday Evening January 10 2025.
These are the latest evacuations that have followed the mandatory evacuations for some residents of Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica and Malibu.
The Palisades fire has new Evacuation Orders for Sunset Boulevard north to Encino Reservoir and From the 405 Freeway west to Mandeville Canyon.

Fire limits continue to be from the east city limits to the eastern edge of the Franklin Fire burn scar (Carbon Beach).
Heavy impacts are being reported to Big Rock, La Costa, and other coastal properties.

Evacuation Warning remains for all additional areas north of Montana Avenue and this warning is expanded to all areas north of Wilshire Boulevard and west of 10th Street.

Palisades Fire Notable History
Cal Fire Reports that Palisades Fire started at 10:30am in Pacific Palisades.
The Wild Fire started near 1190 North Piedra Morada Drive and was at 20 acres when LA Fire responded. Wind was at 25mph with gusts at 50mph.
At 11:30am the fire was estimated at 200 acres. At 8:30am on Wednesday January 8 2025 the Fire grew to over 5000 acres.
